Help please!!!!!!!! 87gt won't start back up after dizzy been moved
87 gt recently got the car going threw it dizzy bolt was lose. So I thought that would been the problem of misfire and it chokes sometimes.. In process in screwing bolt tight the dizzy move and the car ran horrible. So I tried to adjust it back it got worst. Now car won't start. I've crave numerous times drained batt a lil.. Now when I try crank it makes noises like the flywheel or starter bad. I just got new flywheel on it when I first got it a month ago.. It makes real loud grinding noise.. Please help me guys this is my first mustang and I love it..

Yea I've done that I've seen the mark on dizzy and lined it up at first the #1 on dizzy was on pointing toward driver side but like I said it won't turn over now you think starter went out its making this horrible grinding noise

Some clarification is needed here. What kind of no start issue is it? Either no crank/no start & crank/no start. If the motor doesn’t crank then that would’t have been caused by the distributer. Put a wrench on the crankshafts center bolt and see if you can manually turn the motor over without any noises. Make sure to disconnect the battery when doing that to make sure it doesn’t unexpectedly turn over on its own and injure you. Good luck...

But I'd also do what petrock ( < I got it right this time lol ) said to make sure the motor turns over freely.
Just out of curiosity, has this car always cranked loudly ? Hence, the new flywheel. The chain automotive stores sell a shim for the starter that may help you. My car, when I first got it, sounded horrible when cranking. I installed that starter shim, and now I can almost hear crickets chirping over my starter, 100% better.

What kind of dizzy is it? I had an accel one that worked fine on my stock motor. When we put it into my brother's stock motor it didnt. When we tightened the bolt down the shaft would spin so much (do to spiral cut of gears) that it would advance or retard (not sure which) the timing so much that the car ran like crap. Never fully tightened it because of that. Ended up putting a frankenstein Ford dizzy in his and it has ran fine for a while now. When I tried putting that accel dizzy into my Dart block motor it did the same thing. New MSD does not.
