that there is a complete ill imformed internet racer.........when is the last time you saw a fast car at the track with 3:15 gears??...................any of the really fast street strip rides, always have at least 4.xx gears........... I rofl when I read the entire thread............Not enough info listed to accurately critic the "so called claimed" et of 11.2 like MPH/trap speed, 60 ft's and how much it picks up on the second half of the track........also, it'd be interesting to know the internal gear ratios of the tranny, which is why it may not need more gear......however, I'd disagree, on the loose convertor crap and possibly the "not needing gears"..........there's a fine line between loose/to loose......WITHOUT seeing the complete time slip who knows if it's pushing past the convertor on the back half if it's too loose, hence only an 11.2 when it could be in the 10's...........but just speculation based on what I've run into multiple times at the track..........I can't remember the last time I ever got beat by these new mustangs at the private mustang drag days we have at our track twice a year, and there are some fast ones, just not as fast as my 85....lol

My car is built like a race car, but it's a street car meant to get me off mentally. I've always wanted a classic muscle car and I love the foxbody. I just want it to feel more like it has 400hp and I'm pretty sure it's my gears that are hold me back, but at the same time I don't want to have control issues and have my car be at 3,000 rpms going 65mph.
I drove my buddy's 1G AWD DSM that has the same amount of power and when it hit's boost it feels like a rocket ship. When I was doing all the WOT pulls on mine it felt fast, but it didn't have that glued to your seat feeling like his car did. Now granted, you cannot compare a NA V8 to a turbo car, but I still want that "OH SH**" feeling when I hit the gas.

You'll get that feeling with the right gear. And your cruising rpm will be no where near 3000 rpm. At 65 mph, I'm pulling between 1800 and 2100, depending on which tach I'm looking at lol. It's the drone zone.

Sounds perfect then. That's what I'm looking for. The camshaft power ratio is from 2500-6500, so between that and the 3.08's I think that's my issue. The cam even calls for a minimum of a 3.55 anyways (I'm sure I said that already).
Will me switching from the 3.08 to the 3.55 make it easier to back up? It's a pain to back up. I have to really rev it up to not stall.

Yes, but that sounds like there may be something a little off somewhere. Have you had the car tuned yet ? Sounds like that might be more of a fix for that.
