Default trying to get the best shift points and power out of my set up

I have explorer intake, explorer heads, stock ho cam advanced 4 degrees, I had done this to take advantage of the power by the aod shift points of 4900rpm.

Fast forward, and I've had trans work done and it now shifts at 5500rpm in 1st, and 5200rpm in 2nd. The rpms drop to 4k in 2nd, and 3700 in 3rd.
Peak hp is at 4600rpm and from 4100-5100rpm the hp stays within a 10hp range of peak hp. Peak torque is at 4100rpm and pretty much falls off from there.

The peak power specs are almost exact to the 1993 cobra specs same peak rpms.

I'm unsure why the peak torque rpm is so high compared to stock ho cam results. However I have been doing alot of research to this set up and the dyno graph. Id like the peak hp to be a couple hundred rpm higher, and keep the torque rpms hopefully the same. I can put the cam back dot to dot but Idk how much that shifts the peaks. Any info is appreciated

i think that you are overthinking this a bit, i would put a shift kit in it and dial the shift points with the tv cable and govenor. what kind of dyno are you getting your figures off of?

Ya ur prob right.
Main thing is with the shift points set at 5500rpm and 5200rpm I just want the most area under the curve. With my peak hp at 4600rpm and only a drop of 15hp down to 4000rpm and up to 5200rpm I think it's set up pretty well at 4 degree cam advance. And it's interesting my peaks are the same as the listed specs for a 93 cobra. Also as 4 degrees advanced my peak hp didn't drop extremely low, and torque, actually peaks higher than I thought.

Just hoping is anyone may have experimented with the stock ho cam maybe back in the day, if I can get actual rpm numbers of peak hp change, it may help me as it seems I may benefit from peaking a few hundred rpm higher. Maybe I am over thinking it, but it's interesting to me, and fairly new and if I can improve effiency of my set up at the same time and notice the results thats awesome.

that 300 rpm difference will not be detectable

use a better cam, heads and intake if you want more peak hp and torque........heads and intake are holding you back and are restrictive.

So the 4 degrees,of advance is approx 300rpm difference? Is that for peak hp and torque?

Mjr it's not really that I want more power, I just want to get the most out of what I have.

So making peak hp 300rpm,closer to my shift point wont be noticible?

if all the parts are in oem form, you have the most out of what you have.......without making any internal changes......you're not gonna be able to shift the peak power/torque much further and at that 300 rpm which won't even be felt.......4 degrees advanced on an h.0 cam is the most optimal you'll get........and one small change that you could make is get a decent set of lightweight valve springs, such as lsx for the cam which will require machining the pocket on oem heads or opt for beehive set up....if you are still using stock single springs I'd change......that in itself can be enough to affect peak power points......and not just any old replacement spring......you'd need the "right" set up for your goal.
