I have a 83 mustang glx convertible with a 351 police interceptor, ford 9 inch 3.73 posi.
Borg Warner t-5. I feel this car should be burning the tires off, but I doesn't at all, what gear ratio should I have, or what needs to be done. Thank you for your help

what does 351 interceptor mean?? where did the motor come from / out of?? those motors are nothing special in stock form

You mean it won't spin the tires in 1st gear with a T5 and 3:73 rearend ???

And if your serious about looking for advice, we're going to need a lot more info as something is really wrong with your setup.

It's the last of the police interceptors. Haven't any of you guys every seen mad max, the road warrior??? Sounds like a very tired car if it wont spin the tires.

You likely have an old tired, and worn drive train assembly. Unless the motor has been recently rebuilt you likely need to look at rebuilding the motor, transmission, and rear end. It will be a bit costly, however, it will help waken up some power. While you're at it, you might as well upgrade the heads and intake assembly to maximize the 351.
