Default Oil leak

I replaced the drain plugs on this 89 foxbody because they were all leaking, I when plugged the low oil level sensor(it was also leaking) as shown in this picture. The question - above the bolt there is a plug on the block. What is that plug for because oil is leaking out of that plug. Probably a few drop a day.

I just picked this car up recently as a project and so far its been just abused. The original oil level sensor was cut and I think maybe it attached to that plug?

That really looks like someone replaced freeze plug with a temp sensor or else one of those temporary rubber freeze plugs. And then when trying to install the oil stick tube or something they damaged the freeze plug. That is the water jacket where that thing is. Oil leak is most likely from the dipstick tube inlet or the pan gasket.

*** EDIT *** FYI ,,, we don't have oil level sensors. Only oil pressure sensor and that is in the front on the drivers side.

After having a cup or 2 of coffee, upon thinking about it . It looks like it could be a block heater in place of where a freeze plug would go. I bet that engine is out of a truck or someone installed a block heater in place of the freeze plug.

scroll down this page here you will see a pic of one out of the engine.

incorrect, my 89 has one as well as other fox mustangs I've worked on in the past have had them, they are low level sensors, that can trigger oil light on.

Yep, like I mentioned I trashed that and just plugged it.

So I got to figure out why the block heater is leaking or seal it somehow. If your able to zoom in on it you can see it leaking out the bottom

It would be leaking coolant not oil. The block heater is in the water jacket. If its oil then its because your dipstic tube is not all the way in the block.

Yep its coolant. I know how to remove a freeze plug but this thing I don't know.

Is removing this any different?
