Fuel pump relay clicking at times while running?
1992 gt 5.0
Why do I hear my fuel pump relay clicking while the car is running? It doesn't always do it either. When I hear the click the idle bumps up just a hair then goes normal. It will do this about every 5 seconds. Any ideas??

need to pin out the relay/check it to see if it's loosing power or ground to the windings, or simply replace the relay as a test.......after that you need to check signals to relay/wiring, via test light/dvom.....ecm controls ground windings, so you'll need a diagram to test circuits

I'm no Mustang "know it all", but just looking at this logically, a relay is nothing more than a switch. So to me, it seems that current to that relay is being interrupted or surging. Maybe one of the smarter guys here can list off what would cause this, but I'd start with simple stuff first. Loose connections, bad grounds, "salt and pepper " connectors, ignition switch, bad ECM, or just a bad relay itself.
Pulling codes might help here also.
