Please help intake prob
Hi I'm current installing my Holly systematic intake manifold on my aluminum heads . For some reason my bolts keep snapping I torque the first set of bolts to 7lbs then I went to 14lbs and two of them snap . On my intake manual its says 22-24 lbs . I don't know what I'm doing wrong this is the first time I have done this if anyone can please help thanks .

Ive broken a couple at 12 ft/lbs before. Long story short.. I don't trust old used factory hardware anymore. I did MPI on the remaining bolts I had after they broke, and every one had cracks running through most of the threads.

Like mjr46 said, buy ARP bolts. I have them on my intake (and everything else). Trust me, if you break an ARP bolt........there's a serious problem (YOU). Check your torque wrench too. Harbor freight sells an electronic one that you attach to your ratchet that I've heard good things about. Be sure to use thread sealer on the bolts near the water jacket!

it depends what you buy from harbor freight...........90 percent is junk.......however, some things like their impact sockets I have been using for 15+ years and have yet to break one and they get used daily......however that is about all I'd use from them, just can't stomach the 400+ price tag for snap on impact stuff.
