Rotating "squeak" from FL Wheel area?
I have an 88 McLaren Mustang that I picked up recently as a project car and after driving it a few miles, I've noticed a rotating squeak coming from the front left wheel area. Not something I hear audibly from the outside, but more like it's resonating through the body/frame. And by "rotating squeak" I mean I can hear it being directly in ratio to the wheel turning... when I slowly roll off, it slowly starts to squeak and the frequency of the squeak goes up and down with the speed.
Anyone have any idea what I'm looking for here?
I took the wheel off and in looking at the brake caliper (plenty of pad and rotor life left), I noticed that the caliper doesn't appear to be releasing all the way... that is, even when resting the pads have a fair amount of pressure on the rotor. I can spin the rotor with my hand easily, but there is still noticable pressure from the pads/caliper. Should they be more free at rest?
So not sure if that is the problem or not.. never really heard brakes squeak like that... and again, it's not an exterior squeak like when your pads are the tabs, but more like it's coming through the frame/suspension...
Maybe spindle bearings?
Thoughts anyone? Any other info I can give that might help troubleshoot?
