Default New 86 get,a few questions

Hi guys, been a while without a mustang. Just picked up a 86 gt 5 speed. I have a few questions that I couldn't get a definite answer with the search. I wanted to pick up a donor car, either a sn95 or new edge and swap out the brakes and axles, possible the motor and trans. Is this possible with either as a bolt on. Is one donor better than the other as far as brakes and 5 lug conversion go. Thanks

you'll need the whole rear end from the sn-95 as axles iirc are roughly 1.5 inches longer, the sn-9594-95 would be a better/quicker choice as a donor car

I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up a 94 get for $800 over the weekend. So my plan is to swap motor and suspension from that. So worse case then I have to use a skinnier tire in the rear if I don't want it sticking out to far. I'm just glad everything will bolt up. Thanks

I'd just find some rims/tires that you like that have a deeper offset that will pull the tire in under the car more. That will offset the longer axles.

Skinny tires just don't look right on the back of a Fox lol.

I agree,I like fat tires on all my cars. The 94 I was looking at was sold so will have to look for another. I really wanted to do a modular swap but from what I am reading its a lot of work,so that's why I figured just go with a newer year 5.0 and work on that

New question, I am getting the rear axle with brakes from an 04 gt. since they are disk brakes and the 86 is drums, does that mean I have to run brake lines to the rear and get a distribution box from a 99-04 gt

You'll need a new master cylinder, proportioning valve and parking brake cables. The lines will work as long as they're not rusted. The best master for that setup would be the svo, that way your brake lines will connect without adapting. You might need a new soft line from the hard line to the axle.

Ok,thanks. I ended up finally having someone get back to me and picked up a 95 get convertible. It's an auto so that's the only downfall. So the plan is to swap everything from car to the other so hopefully I won't have any issues
