Default Gas smell with AC on

95 GT. There is a very strong gasoline smell from the vents with the AC on. Goes away when just the vent is on without AC. AC works fine aside from the odor. It is definitely gas, smells exactly like spilled gas, not exhaust. The check engine comes on occasionally and the code says bad EGR, not sure if this would contribute to a gas smell. I just replaced plugs, wires, and fuel filter and re-charged AC. I never noticed the small before since the AC wasn't working.

I'd guess you actually have a gas leak somewhere under the hood. Raw gas smell means just that, nothing else smells like it. And when you run the AC, the odors are getting sucked in by the HVAC intake. I'd idle the car and just follow the gas line till you find it.

I don't believe you'd get it from a bad EGR, but that should still be replaced to clear up the codes and the car will be much happier.

Good luck

I would say that it's either the Canp or the vacuum line feeding the intake from it. Read here: http://www.themustangnews.com/content/2013/04/fix-sn-95-mustang-gasoline-odor-issue/#.V557O8spDqA

turn a/c to max mode = recirculate...if smell goes away , look for leak under hood
