Alright so not too long after installing my GT40 upper and lower intake and 70mm TB with Bama's 3 tune system the starter seems to be the victim of heat soak. It's probably a coincidence that this is happening after the install, unless someone says otherwise. Just so it's known, the car runs great with the tunes and doesn't run abnormally hot. Anyway, I would start the car with no problem for the first time in a day and then drive it to the gas station. After filling up and going to start it, it weakly cranks the engine but does start. This happened multiple times. Finally, it seems as though the starter has crapped out because it doesn't crank. I couldn't find any loose connections in the engine bay. I went ahead and ordered a PA Performance high torque mini starter. It doesn't hurt to get some reassurance from other people, so do you agree with me that the starter has failed because of too much heat soak, or do you have some other input?

There's a real good chance that you hit the nail on the head, but I always check the battery and charging system first.

But if it still does this after the new starter, it sounds like the new tune isn't pulling timing at startup. Hopefully the the new starter is the cure....

check for voltage drop on the starter wire, or heat soak often is a cause, I use the high torque mini starters, iirc 92 and up uses them....good time to convert to such

I put in the new starter and she fired right up. She didn't the second time because of dead battery. Someone jumped me and I put her on the charger. I've run into a new issue though. For some reason my temp gauge goes up when I turn on my headlights. What's that all about??

LOL, that's awesome.....my trucks oil pressure drops to nill when I turn my blower motor on......

You have a short, or maybe a bad ground in that circuit. Get out the multimeter........time to get angry lol.

Well, I just found out my battery is actually bad. I'm not sure if that would cause the temp gauge problem with the headlights, but it's under warranty and I'm going to go get another battery today. I'll put the new battery in and see what happens.
