Rich 5.0....Not $$$ Either...
I know, I know there is a ton of posts about 302s running rich, but I still haven't been able to find a solution to my issue.
I do not know much about the car in the way of the short block. Aftermarket block, Brodix heads, Edelbrock Performer intake, unknown cam specs, unknown compression. SCT MAF sensor. Aeromotive fuel cell, pump filter, lines, return style system. MSD 6AL digital box, MSD pro-billlet distributor, MSD wires (8.5mm).
The car when I got it was staying idled up to 2000 rpm. I adjusted the fast idle screw down, replaced the IAC, got it down to 1500. Kept playing with it, got it down to 1200. Anything below that, it stalls out. If I adjust the fuel pressure down to like 20 PSI on the Aeromotive regulator, it runs better. But if I have it set down to 20 PSI, it's obviously not gonna be enough pressure to support WOT. So, because the Aeromotive fuel setup is rated to 1000 horsepower, I'm wondering if less pressure is still flowing an incredible amount of fuel. plenty for a 302 inch motor.
I also attached a photo of a small switch in the glove box that I honestly have no idea what it does...seems to be fuel pump related...maybe a voltage resistor or something? If it is set at 0, it runs right, but any other number (it is labeled 0-9 or 10, don't recall) it will NOT run at all. It stalls immediately.
I ran maybe like 10 miles yesterday and burned like 5 gallons of gas....of course I spent some time with it idling while adjusting, but still, not all that long.
Any idea of that dial or potential solutions with the aeromotive system?
Regards,
Chris

No CEL/MIL present. I have not had the chance to check with a test light to determine if it works or not. The motor is not stock and with the MSD and aftermarket fuel system, I wasn't sure what would and wouldn't be hooked up, as in I wasn't for sure the MIL would be hooked up even. I know too little about the setup on this car.

It's odd that no codes are thrown, if in fact it is running that rich. Have you pulled a couple plugs to verify it is running that rich ? They'd be pitch black.
And just to verify, when I said "pull codes", that didn't mean if the CEL isn't lit, all is good. Google "Pulling Codes Mustang" and you'll find step by step instructions on retrieving them.
Post back with what you find, we'll see if we can get her running right again.

I have it out at a mechanic who is very good. BUT some of the stuff installed on this car is a headscratcher because of how it is done. And that would entirely defeat the purpose of buying a QH and spending a buncha money on it. Willie at Dirty Dirty Racing is gonna be doing the tune. He is sending me the base tune as we speak.
