I have a 95 mustang gt. when I first start it up in the mornings it runs fine. once it warms up to 160 degrees it starts misfiring and having a small jerk at steady speed anybody know what this could be.

I have tried to hook up a code scanner and it wont link to my car for some reason and I have used a jumper wire to run the codes and its not pulling anything up. I'm not sure what is causing the problem.

Just so we're on the same page, are you trying to pull codes from the dead port under the dash, or are you using the proper OBDI port under the hood?

So if I understand you correctly you are able to get the car to go into diagnostic mode using the jumper method it just isnt storing codes?

My first thought is you have a bad PIP inside the distributor. Or your coil is failing once it gets hot.

Yes. I will check and replace the distributor. The coil is not old I replaced it not even a year ago. Could it be going bad that soon. Which it is just a stock one.
