DSS level 20 331 stroker with a broken cam dowel pin
I just bought a 1989 Mustang GT with a DSS 331 stroker engine it is a turbo car running 480rwhp when i bought it i knew it wouldnt start so i tore the engine down to find a broken cam dowel pin i replaced it for under $10 put the engine back together and fired it up. It ran fine for a few minutes then i began to here a little chatter opened up the valve cover while running it to find cylinder 5 exh. Not moving and cylinder 6 in. With a quarter inch gap between the pushrod and rocker arm so i freed up the exh. Lifter after seeing it was seized to here the chatter get louder. Its a custom grind billet cam and im gonna replace the lifters im just unsure which ones would be reliable for my needs and should i check for cam damage. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

cam dowel pin often is broken if the bolt holding cam gear not torqued properly or red loctite not used............now you need to make sure the valves on those cylinders aren't bent, pull cam, inspect lobes, check for bent push rods and damaged lifters and rockers.
