My thoughts on the matter are, stock for stock the P's flow better.. But.. If you're going to have them ported then why not go for the bigger exhaust valve on the regular 40s? And... Why not get 40s and never screw with headers and spark plug wires? And... The real reason I bought my GT40s and not Ps: I got mine off of a 40,000 mile '95 Cobra for $200 and no shipping (local).
When you really look at just the flow numbers, a good port job on a set of GT40s (or Ps) should bring them up to, if not beyond, the capability of aftermarket heads for WAY less money. They just weigh a ton.

if you port the P's they will flow pretty damn good ...im porting a set of P's right now in school and mine will flow just under 200cfm on a superflow 600 flow bench at 28 in of h20 which if pretty damn good .......look at www.thumperoforangepark.com he ports heads and he has all the #'s

So a '00 V8 mountainer has GT40p heads?
Also, I have 3 shops around town looking out for a set of explorer heads for me, anything in specific I should tell them, besides make sure it's a 302?

i was also wondering i have a set of hooker shorties on my e7's will they fit the regular gt40's ( i'll be milling and porting the gt's ) i would hate to just throw away $400 headers ya know.
