Default griding in reverse

question about grinding? when a gear grinds what exactly takes place? in my 89mustangit tends to grind everytime i go into reverse, well not everytime but often. It sounds horrible and i need to get it to stop. Is there something im doing wrong? if u put it in second then first it helps sometimes but not always... HELP

Thats really common, just put it in a forward gear and then reverse. Reverse isn't syncroed, so if thegears are not stopped it will grind. I dont know if a t5 is a constant mesh or a sliding gear trans, but ether wat it is caused by a gear or a dog not fully engaging.

I have never seen a mustang no matter what year it is. That doesn't grid when it goes into reverse sometimes.
