Default Operating Temp

My temp guage reads 190ish like it should when cruisin, but when I am at the drive thru it gets up to 220, and this is in 20 degree weather. Am I running to hot? Could it be my pullies? I have heard they can cuase cooling issues

I'm not to sure about 5.0s.. I'm into the 4.6 thing. But that does sound a little high, not to much though. I would think it should be around 170 or 180.

check your coolant level then get your tstat. pullies arnt going to do it. they actually keep the coolant in the rad a hair longer

also could be a problem with your fan. sounds like the problem is when you are stopped. when you are moving the air is forced onto the rad, so cooler temps. but you are also running higher rpms when you are moving so that would push more coolant. thermostats are pretty cheap. might want to try that first.

pulleys can make you run hotter, slows down the water pump ,do you have the street ,or race pulleys.do you have a clutch fan with shroud, or a black magic elet.fan.does your rad. flow good take cap off look in sometimes silicone will block up a rad.real bad, espaily.if you changed you intake ,waterpump, thermo,a couple of times it all ends up in the coolant system.so i would look at that *** well

Being the fact its so cold you should even with a 190 be running at 190.You have cooling issies try whats been suggested after you try a lower stat.

We really need to know what you have as far as a radiator, fan, those pullies sound like a culprit to me.Give us more to go off of.
