Default T-5 tranny swap

Hello again, has anybody out there done a complete Auto to Manual transmission swap? If so how labor intensive is it, and what all is required for the change out. I know that you need pedals, bellhousing, tranny, clutch, linkages, wiring harness, computer, flywheel. Is there anything else required? And does anybody know where a complete kit can be purchased from (salvage yard)?

my car was an auto when i bought it, but i made a deal with the guy for him to put the 5 speed in because he does trans. work for a living. im pretty sure u listed about everything, but make sure the sincros. inside the trans. arent bad. i made that mistake when i got this car and the guy had to pull it out again and rebuild it. theres really nothing to putting in a manual tranny.

oh, cable obviously, and the clutch quadrant under the pedals.

Thanks for the info and link. I would be swapping out my AODE in my 95 GT. I absolutely hate the auto tranny that is in my car. I have done auto to manual swaps in GM cars before but never in anything Ford or new. All my swaps were in late 60's/early 70's muscle cars and they were easy. If anybody has any idea where I can get all the components for the swap please let me know. Thanks!

My 91 gt convertible was auto when i got it, i had my dad do a t5 swap at roush. It took a couple days, about 7 hours each. We didnt have to change the wiring harness or the computer, but we did have to do a little wiring work on the plugs that go into the trans. I hear it is a good idea to replace the stock aluminum bearing retainer that tends to wear out, with a steel replacement from ebay or wherever you can find one. we didnt replace mine and i get a few noises i think would go away if i replace that. But its totally worth it, the difference between auto and manual is like night and day.

I did this swap on my 95 GT --the AODE was going out so I swapped to a Tremec 3550, instead of a T5, but the process is the same. I used the flywheel from the 88 and got the rest of the parts I needed-- wiring harness and pedal assembly -- from a junk yard. Had to buy a manual tranny specific computer from a Ford dealer. Also had to trim sheetmetal in the transmission tunnel to get more clearance for the shifter. The swap only took me about one day to do.
