i was thinking of doing the same thing. i have a 180 and i'm running over 200. flushed the coolant, replaced pump, fan, fan clutch. helped a bit but still 200. i heard that you get less gas mileage with a 160. havent confirmed if its true or not.

stay with the 180..if you go with the 160 it will stay in closed loop. make sure your gauge is correct as the stock ones can be off my 10-20 degrees. going to a 3 core rad will do the trick..

your car will most likely not reach the "warmed up" temp of 178*... so the EEC will keep the engine running rich trying to warm it up.... </P>

but thats nothing a tweecer cant fix right?</P><edited><editID>bmorrisj</editID><editDate>38009.690150463</editDate></edited>

get an aftermarket temp gauge, my car came with one installed in the left side a/c vent... the stock cluster gauges are accurate to a "somewhere around there" range....
