man they don't powershift them....because they figure you wouldn't abuse your car like that...so they don't...those are accurate times. 1993 Cobra only had 240 horsepower...1993 Z28 had 275....and it was a bit lighter. The best time i've ever heard of for those years was in 1986. The GT ran a 0-60 in 6 seconds and 14.6 quarter mile time. 1987 GT ran an altitude correct 14.7 and it was quoted as the quickest run ever by a Mustang GT for those years 87-93and that year had Speed Density.</P>

you said it yourself they dont beat the rides to get the best time. those times are what your average driver are capable of gettting. and if you only think a GT40 engine makes 240hp 15hp more then a 5.0HO. then your mistaken. for 1993, ford downrated its 5liter hov8 combination by 20hp [from 225 to 205] without actually making any contributing mechanical changes to the engine itself. All the factors discussed in chapter 15 relating to the downrating of 5liter ho v8 also apply to the 1993 gt40 ized cobra powerplant. by 1993 new appraisal, the cobra v8 rating worked out t o235 hp, or 30 more than the rating assigned to the standard 5 liter ho v8. these conservative numbers were delegated despite the fact that the same gt40 parts assembled on a an o0ther wise oe5liter engine had already produced 270hp in a well publicized nonfactory evaluation.

this is just some of the info of the gt40 motor

man those years were not fast. GT's ran a very high 14 and low 15's.. The cobra ran mid to high 14's. The 99 and up GT's would beat those cars any day of the week. It would take some major mods such as a supercharger or turbo to get those cars down to low 14's or better. They were fast for their time...But now a days...they would get spanked my some Integra's and Accords....</P>

ford has always been screwed up when it comes to horsepower figures. no doubt..They even contributed to the f*** up on the RX8. But they still didn't run low 14's. I don'tthink you could get those times if you nearly blowedon up...But they way theytest car's...No way. <edited><editID>00banditv8</editID><editDate>38023.6532986111</editDate></edited>

so those foxes couldnt hit a 14.3 @ 98mph completely stock with 90k miles on it.
this was a 92 midnight blue lx t5 273 car. at Keystone Raceway in PA. the owner of this car was a memeber of this site[but got banned] his info on his car should still be here. [Shaggy from pittsburgh,pa]

go look for his info. his timeslip should be posted on here.foxes arent slow. i would take one over a sn95 gt or new edge gt any day. with the exception of a few cobras. they have hard times staying in the 14s.

and if you knew about stangs you would know that they capable of running low 14s with aggresive driver. some can even hit 13s pushing them to the limits.

you also have to take in account the altitude of these times. the tracks we hit up are alot close to the correct altitude compared to you up in seattle.<edited><editID>ohsoquik02</editID><editDate>38023.6614930556</editDate></edited>

If they are that fast...then why are they getting beat by people running high 14's........i will give you this much...not every car's the same....but they don't run that fast...no way...if your friend went that fast, he must have had some kind of mods...or something..

i swear to god that his car was completely stock except a K&N panel filter and a larger rad. i forgot that a K&N panel filter knocks off almost a full second. before i modded my stang i ran right with him with a 327 aod SD car. now that im modded i run a 13.7 &102mph and this is with a stock OE motor. [exception of timing and panel filter] these cars can run fast if you push them hardenough. were not afraid of abusing the cars, if they break time to go get a new one. these cars are made to be ran hard and only hard. if your not running them hard then your just wasting your time.

i bet you dont even believe a stock motor with a 1500 dollar TT setup could run mid 11s.

that is the proof of the TT setup
