Default any helpful planning?

Alright, not a lot planning, but im getting ready for have $500 to spend on the stang, I know its not a lot but it is money that I have to just blow. I was wandering if some you could help me out on some mods to put on. Im currently still runnign the stock 86. I've been throwing around diff. ideas from exhaust ( xpipe, mac or flows, headers), gears (3.73), shifter &amp; shift kit (AOD), converting to mass air, and i've really been throwing down the idea of carb conversion. Keep in mind to all the EFI gurus, I myself have no prob with efi, but i'll be going off to college next year and each bit of extra money I get will prob go into my car, but I wont be able to work on an efi as far as tuning cause i'll be a broke lil boy away from home. In other words for $500, whats my best bang for my buck? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!</P>

it depends on how you want to do it. a sweet demon carb runs for about 400 and a good manifold (edelbrock performer) woulg go for about 150. you would need a low psi fuel pump (65) and linkage crap (50).you could get a non-efi manifold and carb and take out all of the emissions stuff and get tons of power. the only problem is that it isnt street legal. what i plan to do is take out all of the emissions sh*t and put the efi back in just for the emissions test once a year, and then swap back. you can gain TONS of power by taking out the emissions stuff

sorry, I live in Indiana.. No emissions what so ever to worry about. Oh and a lil more than $500 isn't bad, thats just money im going to be recieving, I can always save more money and Ill be getting a profit sharing check soon, so that'll be around $150 - $200 more that I'll have<edited><editID>cody</editID><editDate>38017.9824537037</editDate></edited>

then definately swap to carb and take out all of the emission sh*t. get an edelbrock air gap manifold, a road demon carb, and sell all of the EFI sh*t and use that money to mod it more!!

this again remember youll need a new dist. if you go the dino way.

with the 500 you have get a gear install, probably pullies, exhaust would be my first mod. if you went shift kit go Transgo. i running one now. but little advise with a ford AOD. i ran one with Transgo kit,[full race setup] trickflow deepsump pan, B&M 3000 stall[nonlockup] of course a cooler. this seem to work good for a while but when i put it abuse it didnt hold up. and this was with a recently rebuilt tranny. im picking up either an Art Carr one or a GER aod. both preped for racing for around 1500bucks.

so maybe an exhaust setup? I can get a mac setup (full length headers, hpipe w/o cat, catback) for $720... Will this be worth the money or should I just throw in some gears and do things such as that? And ohsoquik02, I prob wont do the carb conversion, just throwing it around as an idea. Thanks again!</P>
