Default air scoop

I got a old stang with a carb. My question is: While looking on E-bay I saw a hilborn style air scoop. I like the old look of muscle cars. Does anyone now the benefits of having one and should I expect an real change in HP or will it just be for looks?

Thanks.

Default air scoop

I'm not familiar with a hilborn style scoop but if it directs airflow to a point near the intake, it will raise the air the pressure in the intake and increase power. How much I don't know but it has to increase it. It should also provide cooler air to the intake which also increases power because it's more dense.

Default air scoop

i have recently watched a series on speedvision about older muscle cars and they said that the hood scoop would not produce much increased air flow beyond 40 mph. This is because once past 40mph, the air would "shoot" over the front bumper and over the hood which wouldn't allow for much air to be gained. But if looks is what your going for then i would definetly say yes.
