How to flycut pistons???
I just screwed up and purchased AFR 185cc heads with 2.02/1.6 valves thinking they would work with stock style flat pistons with 1.9/1.6 valve reliefs-OOPS! So, now i either need to replace the shortblock or flycut the pistons. Has anybody done this with the pistons in the car? Are there tools to do it without the head in place or am i giong to have to disassemble one of the heads? I am worried this will hurt my new aluminum cylinder heads? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

RE: How to flycut pistons???
obviously you can't do it with the heads in place.
its not a good idea to make your first ever attempt at this on your pistons, that are sitting in your block.
best take 'em out and bring 'em somewhere, or pay the machine shop guy to haul his **** to your place

RE: How to flycut pistons???
I read an artical in the last MM & FF where they cut the pistons in the block for 100 bucks. Some guy had a set up for it to do with the heads off. Try doing a google or call you local engine shops. Might be a good time for a hone and new rings and bearings.
