Went to Auto Zone to replace my O2 sensor today...
I bought two bosch Oxygen sensors about 11 months ago at Auto Zone near where I live. Sunday I removed my passenger side O2 sensor and replaced it with a Bosch Wideband O2 sensor. I then had to cut two of the wires on the NB sensor that i removed so that I could splice in a 20 ohm resistor to keep a Check Engine Light from coming on (from removing the Narrowband sensor.) That left me with a narrowband on my driver's side.
Well I fire up the car and immediately notice that the readings from my driver's side are off. Then tend to read about 1 point richer on the fuel trims. So I look at old logs and see that it has been that way for awhile now. Great, I have a bad sensor and I just cut up what would have been a good replacement. But luckily for me, I have a 12 month warranty on the sensors!
So that leads me to Auto Zone... I get there and tell the guy working the desk that I need to replace a sensor that failed but was under warranty ($65 each.) So he looks it up in the computer but it's not there. Of course, my first thought it WTF, I KNOW I bought them there and it should be in there. He finally finds a part number, but it doesn't match up.
So now I ask why it doesn't match up. It's teh same exact part. Well he looks deeper into it and notices that the O2 sensors I bought 11 months ago (the ones that are under warranty) are the sensors that go after the cats. But the one I had in my hand to buy was a pre-cat sensor. Therefore, I could not get the replacement because my post-cat O2 sensors that I bought for my 1995 GT 5.0 did not fail, it was my pre-cat sensor that failed. Anyone else see a problem with this?
After talking to the manager and trying to explain the situation, I got my replacement sensor for free. But wow, LoL.

They looked at me as if I had two heads when I told them that there was no way that it was possible. I even offered to bring them out and let them look for themselves, LoL. I'm not even sure why their computer would list it as an option!
