Default 1994 GT Rear Gears

What are the stock rear gears for a 1994 mustang gt, should i go with 3.73 or 4.10 , everyone tells me i should go with 4.10 for automatic but my rmp is going to be higher every time. I want to be able to rev up the 1st gear and be able to go at a fast speed and then shift. What would be the diffrence of each gear. The different characteritics of each one.

stock is 2.73 or 3.08 depending. For a 5.0 auto 4.10 is the way to go for a kick in the pants unless you really drive alot of highway then go 3.73 i dont think 3.55 in an auto 1994 would feel like enough of a difference unless you have alot of power adders but by your previous post your just starting out.... GO 4.10's for the win

He could also have 3.27 gears stock. If your rear end is stock and you want to do it the easy way, just open up the driver's side door and look on the sticker. You should see an axle code there. It will say "AX" with a letter beside / under it. The axle code will tell you what the stock rear ratio is:

Next to / Under "AX" you will see one of the following characters... 8, E, M, Z. Here's what they mean:

8=2.73 conventional differential (not for the 5.0s unless someone swapped a 5.0 into the chassis)
E=3.27 Traction Lok limited slip differential
M=2.73 Traction Lok limited slip differential
Z=3.08 Traction Lok limited slip differential

you're wrong samseed... I have a 95 gt rear end in my car and the stock gears were 2:73 with Trac loc.

I know it's extremely rare, but occasionally, just occasionally... I have a slight clue what I am talking about.

LoL. I must say, I've never had someone quote me, say that I am wrong, and then explain how I am "wrong" by repeating nearly exactly what I said.

It's along the lines of:

Me: 1+1 = 2
Them: You're wrong man, are you a ****ing idiot? When I added 1+1 together I got 2.
