RE: 94 GT BBK Equal Lenght Headers Installation
I have to disagree. You're much better off taking all that smog **** out and leaving it out. It will make your install much easier. When I did my equal lengths there was no way in hell they were going in from under the car. All it did was scratch the hell out of them trying.
Take out your intake, all the smog stuff, unbolt the one bolt on your passenger side motor mount and jack the motor up slightly. The passenger side should go right in then. Lower the engine back down, put the bolt back on the motor mount but don't tighten it all the way, take the bolt off your drivers side mount, jack the motor as far as you can, remove the master cylinder (very easy to do), If you have AC, very gently pull the AC line away from your intake manifold and slide the header down in. It will be tight but it will go. This was the easiest way I found to get them in. I messed around under the car for several hours trying to bring them up from the bottom and it just didn't work with the equal lengths.
Also, once you have the drivers side header in and bolted up, make sure that it is not rubbing on the steering shaft. That is a very common problem with these headers. If it is, you'll need to shim the motor mount a little bit. If your changing your mounts anyway, that should take care of the problem too. Good Luck
