How do you unbolt the header to midpipe bolts from the top? That sounds like a huge hassle.
Getting two bolts from under car is just as easy as getting to the bolts on the motor mounts. It's fighting the header up from under the bottom that is the pain. I think the problem here is half of these guys installed regular shorties and not equal length shorties. Regardless, why is everyone a bunch of ****** on this forum towards someone giving his help and experience. I have had first hand experience with this issue and I am just telling how it went down for me. If it went differently for you, good for you. If you haven't ever installed a EQUAL LENGTH shortie header, why are you here in the first place?

why is he in a mustang forum talking about one fast eclipse??sounds like hes got a few nuts missing, or in some cases hard to get too..back to what i said before...all you have to do is take the old stuff out and drop the new stuff in, whatever way you fell like doing it in this case it seems to work different for some of us, iam 6ft7in tall and prefer to be above the car, its hard for me to be under it but i do know that you have to be under it to get the bolts of the cat/h pipe...if you can get them from the top please send pics of doing that....would love to show them around
What's it matter to you what my name is? Look at my join date, I have had my Mustang for all of 5 months. I signed up for this forum quite awhile ago when I had my Eclipse. You feel better now?

I'm not talking about motor mount bolts, i'm talking about the bolts that hold the header to the midpipe, I can't see it being easier to get from the top than it is from the bottom, hense the car is already up in the air and thus making it very easy to put the drivers side header into place from under the car.

Did I say you were talking about the motor mount bolts? I was refering to them as a example, not all of us are priviledged and have a lift to work under. Most of us work off of Jack Stands and ramps. Getting a couple bolts off from underneath a car is MUCH easier then trying to shove a header in from underneath. I really don't know why you would prefer to be on your back, fighting them up from underneath the car when you can simply drop them in from the top.

Regardless, I'm done arguing. To the original poster, go ahead and do what these guys said, shove it up from underneath the car. When it won't go in because of it being equal length and not a regular shortie, and it is now all scratched up from trying to shove it up in there, remember my way and give it a shot.

I don't have a lift, I work on my back just like the majority of the people here. Honestly it was easier putting the header in from the bottom than it was getting the nuts off the headers, actually broke one of the studs it was so rusted. The point is you cannot simply drop them in from the top, hense the whole reason for putting it in from the bottom.

And my point is you can not simply just push it up through the bottom. Your arguement is a matter of preference. So because you prefer to try and put it in through the bottom, that is the new Gospel of header installs and anyone else's method is wrong? I think some people here just have a hard time understanding what a equal length header is. They are MUCH wider then a standard shortie. Go buy a set and try to put it in through the bottom.
