Default 9" in my fox?????? ayone done it here?

Hey guys,

I was thinking about putting a 9" in my 86 project car. I was wondering if anyone here has done it. I will be putting southside lower, so the lower control arm brakets will have to be welded anywasy. But what i was really wondering is if the UCA mounts where the same???? I will be doing a coil over setup, on the inside of the frame, so i will be welding those brakets also. So really all i need to know is if the UCA will bolt to any 9" rear end without any mods?????? Thanks, NIk

all I can say is... why?

The 8.8 will hold hp in excess of 800 with the right axles and diff. But if you want the head ache... then be my guest.

I have done it. Let me ask: how easy is it to swap the gears on a 8.8? How about diffs? What about if you are working on your back under jacks and you dont have the special tools / know-how becasue you do it a few times in your life... what about if you break an axle ... anywhere ? your wheel will fly off!!!! I know you can get the c-clip eliminators and the 9" large bearings but you are just trying to make it like a 9" at that point but still you cant easily with hand tools in minutes swap out gears and / or diff. These are some of the reasons I swapped a 9" into my 1987 CHP mustang... its rear was F$C&^D up!!! darnit all cops just arent gentle!! well it was sure trashed and I had swapped a 9" into my '67 fastback 10 years eariler... it had 3.98:1 detroit locker, also bud had given me a used war case with 3.0:1 open diff.... hell why not... but I wanted to keep stock rear brakes for ease of maintainence......also wanted to go CHEAP!! (this means NO to currie)

Here is where I documented my swap, please take a look

Also wanted to say that the c-clip eliminators leak if you drive like a normal person on the street... they work ok for drag racing only but if you corner all the time the side loads are supposed to make them leak... again unless you drag race, but if you do you might want the robust famous strength even brand-x racers go for all the time, the venerable FORD 9 INCH REAR BABY!!!! (gonna swap in that 3.89 & detroit locker soon now that Ive got my 1992 notch daily driver!)

I found out that moser sells the axle housing with the control arm mounts... I cut off my 8.8 rears quad shock brackets later and had them welded on to the housing....because I wanted to damnit!!! And NOBODY offers them this way. I wanted a 9" in my 5.0 mustang that was set up just like stock .... haa ha isnt that what modifying your car is about? personal touches and performance? hmmmm

Amen to that. But that a sweet setup. I know of a guy not to far from me that builds these 9" fords. He has tonsssssss, and i have talkjed to him through various email, and phone calls. He actually mihgt have a 9" with the UCA munts already welded on. If that is true i will pick that things up with 4.10, and a posi.

MOSER:

9” Bolt-In Housing - Fox Body Ford
7H9MU Mustangs (1979-2004) Capri, T-Bird and Fox Body Fords 510
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
specify to have them use these ends and you can use all stock components.

STRANGE:

"H1119 bolt in housing big ford ends installed 1979-2004 mustang $605"
However if you use this you have to get different brakes...
