Default Max MPG Ford Fox Mustang V8 5.0 better gas miliage!

EDIT new
am putting together a document with ideas to get Max MPG with regular parts, commonaly available junk, std machine work if needed
Its not nearly done yet there are errors and omissions I know dont worry but please give ideas or correct things if wrong, here is the doc
http://www.thatmetalbox.com/automoti...tangfoxMPG.htm

EDIT added:
build starting could use your help please check out latest post, going for something like example #1 will be using This car: http://www.thatmetalbox.com/automoti...angBlanchWeld/
[ul][*]5.0 block (1989 H.O.) [*]289 crank[*]289 rods[*]manual trans (T5-Z)[*]2.73:1 gears [*]some hyd. roller cam (stock?) [/ul]Gas could eclipse $4.00 in near future, possible!
Even if not, the prices will climb.
What is your best idea for a SBF max fuel mileage whilst still powerful enough to be more than self respectful? (Use your own interpretation of what this means) Be as detailed as you can and explain your reasoning.

Example 1
-Single turbo
-stock 5.0 block
-destroked to 289
-4" pistons
-stock hr cam
===========

Example 2
-new boss block
-302/5.0 crank
-super light 4.060 pistons
-total seal rings
-super light long rods 5.4"
===========

Example 3
-some pushrod sbf
-runs on pure ethanol (E100)
-what changes are necessary to make it run best on this fuel

Good luck, most performance mods aren't too bad on gas milage but once you go big you pay for it. My last fox body was getting an amazing 8 mpg (bored, stroked, 4.10 rear, driving like an azzhole)

not good at $4/gallon...... There are things you can do to increase efficiency / more complete utilization of the power in the fuel we use...and therefore as a side result sometimes a by product of this is more power than stock config as it left the factory 20 years ago. That is more like what I am looking for...

heres a 190mpg equivilant and you can still drive your stang. buy a TDI or diesel car and buy a veggie oil kit add 20 gal fuel cel.....bam now you get to laugh at the gas prices and play with some power.

$3.50/gal for gas is cheap ........ get over it.

Americans have no idea how good we have it with cheap fuel and food costs

my dd is 1993 notch 4banger @ 27mpg average, but want to switch to my 1992 5.0 5 speed for daily grind

hmmmm I dont recall complaining about the price of gas.
r.barn would you mind pointing out where I do? were you posting to a different thread perhaps.......

I simply am interested in how to go about using a bit less than ~20 year old engineering in fox cars... and thats the new bits
The engine itself harkens to a much eariler date.

Surely there are things that we as intelligent ford owners can do to keep driving our cars....no VW, no HONDA!?!!

Keep or eclipse the factory power ratings (from 20 years ago!?) and consume less fuel, comeon..... there are not MANY CARS IN THE HISTORY OF AUTOS THAT HAVE MORE AFTERMARKET PARTS / SUPPORT AVAILABLE surely we can cobble together something....
