5.0 questions. need expert advice
The scenario.
Ive read the carcraft article on the 400hp pump gas with factory bottom end/cam and only adding afr 165cc heads and 1.6 adjustable rockers, headers and intake.
I would like to retain the stock bottom end and reach (at least) 6500 rpm. Torque # is not of any concern really as the car weighs 2250 lbs. What I am looking for is a high peak HP with a torque number higher than 250. Suggestions?

Ill give you the cliff notes first: The car is a 1984 bmw just want a more broad powerband that pulls to redline and can do it without breaking.
(Long version)
Current powerplant is the factory 171,000 mile untouced engine (59k of that was turbocharged so far) (still has factory installed headgasket and bolts!) which has unfortunately starting using oil...The car currently weighs 2350 but i plan on removing the carpet/sunroof/radio equiptment as a full cage is coming soon and I have a new car for daily commuting. The car is an older bmw (84') The current engine makes 360-400whp at 6100 depending on the day.. and 409wtq at 5500. While this is all well and good and leads to a low 11 (11.00) on drag radials with a 129 mph trap speed...the car is actually used for drifting so the powerband I currently have 4200-6900 is what im looking for as thats what im used to. I want a 5.0 because they are reliable, relatively light for a v8, sound good cheap, easy to get parts for and also my dad is a ford guy and i want something i can talk to him about. Would like more than 400 hp but would prefer no more than 400 ft lb at the wheels due to the fact the factory rear axles dont like it. So with that said fill me with your knowledge !

ok i misread you say its turbocharged
I don't understand what is wrong with your current setup, if all the number are where you want them to be then why change your set up? If you are bored buy another car. It just sounds silly that you want to go through all the trouble of swapping a 5.0 in a bmw and than have the 5.0 make the same numbers
