Default GT vs LX

I've been searching hard now for a 1989-1992 LX 5.0 Coupe and have been coming up short over and over again.

I've been doing this because I swore that the GT weighed 200lbs less, and would therefore ultimately be faster.

My question is, should I just pick up a GT? Does the LX to GT make that much of a difference (is it really 200lbs for the trim?! - I had thought the LX 5.0 had the same suspension etc...)

do u mean the gt weighs more?? anyways as far as i know the suspension is the same as long as its a 5.0 of course. the lx hatch and gt are both heavier than the notch back lx 5.0 for sure. i think the gt is only slightly heavier due th the nose of the car, like maybe 30 lbs. someone will chime in who knows their stuff for sure. but the notch is the lightest out of all them. convertibles are the heaviest i think

Hahha yeah, I'll edit that. I meant the GT hatch weighs 200 more than the LX Notch.

find a 4 banger car and swap it thats what my first 86 was. not no 200 lbs lighter though. a guy posted all the numbers on here once and its not 200, most years i think its like 75lbs differance. im sure before the night is thru some one will clarify it all LOL this is a popular topic

Perfect Jasper. Thanks.

EDIT: What's funny is I have that book, and was looking through it for weights and was disappointed.

Whats the difference?

Is it a different year or what? Why is the first one not as heavy as the second one?
