Default Is a 1992 Lincoln Mark 7 302 v8 5.0 HO Compatible with Manual Tranny???

I Recently got a 5.0l v8 Out of a 92 Lincoln Mark 7 motor is identical to a mustang 302 from intake to oil pan identical..i had previously had a 89 5.0 (w/ a manual tranny)that blew a lifter an is not rebuildable. So I tried taking the flywheel from my manual 89 mustang and a manual 92 mustang but the wholes didn't line up. If anyone could give insight i would seriously appreciate it. I guess a manual transmission flywheel is not even made for a 92 5.0l 302 v8 for a lincoln mark7? which is understandable but the motor is identical even has the "Ford 5.0l HO" on the intake....is there anyway i could make this engine work with a manual transmission???? thanks for your time

have u checked to see if there is an adapter for the manuals. all 92 302's should be the same. search the 92 mustang 302 and see what the difference is. i have alldata website for a 91 5.0 so if u cant find it i'll look it up and see if it says anything special.

The flywheel will work with no problems. Just keep turning the flywheel and the holes will line up at the right point. At some points it may look close but not be right. There is only one way to bolt it up and that is to be sure to get the balance in the correct position. No adapters or anything. Ford 302's can use pretty much any ford 302/351w flywheel, man or auto.

huh?????? like projectresto83 said... turn it until it lines up......the holes are offset....it will only work in one position .. you just have to find that one by turning it.. there is no such thing as that not working with a manual

Well that would be sweet if i can just line it up i haven't tried yet going to right now, but i spoke with someone at BurtWilliams&Sons an he said that not only the flywheel wont line up but the crank itself isn't compatible with manual trans, i looked into it an took off the crank from my 89 w/ manual and looked at the end that connects to the flywheel and the center of the end of my crankshaft of the 89 has notches in it, where the crank that is currently in the 92 lincoln has no notches...Do i need the notches ? if so im gunna to have to replace the crank in the motor? and if so would my 89 crank fit/work??

that dude is flat wrong..all of the late model cranks are compatible with auto or manual.. I converted my 85 auto to manual no prob..auto's and manuals use same crank
