Maybe your buddy can't drive because a m6 LT1 should be an even match for a new edge which would walk a bolt on fox.

I just realized you have a slushbox. Get a shift kit for that thing and up the nitrous to a 100 shot, along with the tires. If you can drive, then you can beat him

Shift Kits are about $100-120, but the shift quality is so much better, plus there are different ranges of shift firmness you can choose from. I like TransGo. Also get a tranny cooler for about $50 and it will help prolong transmission life. Stall converters cost between 500-700 bucks. With Stall's, you get what you pay for. Check into Precision Industries or TCI

heres a vid of a race between my friends BONE STOCK 87 5speed, and my friends 94 t/a lt1 auto with a very good tune.
my buddy was slow into 3rd which is where the lt1 jumps ahead...

so i would think with some bolt ons, gears, and some trans work you should be able to pull on him
and this is a short one of me racing the same lt1 in my car, much different outcome
