180 thermostat help

Default 180 thermostat help

hey guys
i have a 180 therm and wanted to put it in today but discovered the i cant get the bottom fastener because of the water pump. there are allen heads insted of hex heads secureing it right now i think the previous owner put them in . does any one have any advice when changing the stat out?

the bottom one on the t-stat is suppose to be shorter or it 'll interfere with removal of bolt and hit the backing of the timing cover..I' did that onmy 66 once and installed t-stat with intake off and used nice new shinney bolts and later I had to remove t-stat and [:@]relized I had used too long a bolt and had to usea body saw with a thin bladeto cut it in half..or remove intake if you don't like that idea
