Mod Motor guy checking in. School me on Windsors.
Alright guys. I'm selling my 03 Cobra swapped 99 GT and I found this nasty little snake on another board. Give me some figures and specs on the limitations of stock internals, block, transmission, suspension, cost to mod, cost to repair, effectiveness of mods, and anything else you can think of.
Give me an idea of what you might think this car is worth and whether it looks like a solid car. I wouldn't be modding this car heavily and I want to know what it's capable of AS IT SITS and what I could expect out of the car with some work.

Stock bottom end can handle 500 horse before you need to up to a better block.
The trannys are rated a little low, I think around 300 ft/lbs
they are cheap to mod, parts are very easy to come by, you can get just about anything you want fro the engine, intakes, heads, cams, ect... you will be happy with it.

as it sits right now, i say high 14's.
all it has is exhaust, didnt even mention headers, it got gears and a stick, plus all the weight added from the dynomat and speakers...
whats the asking for it?
why would u sell the 99 cobra swap, in the first place???
and hopping up a 5.0, you have a couple choices..
1. heads, cam, intake
2. stroker and h/c/i
3. blower or hair dryer
4. blower or hair dryer w/ heads and intake, and cam if you would like.
302 w/ h/c/i can hit high 12's pretty easy.
the rest is even faster
as far as block/ rods/ piston strength, no more than 450rwhp to be safe, around the 500-550bhp and its the limit, ticking time bomb. the internals will hold up longer than the block.
your trans wont take a h/c/i abuse for long, either a A5 kit, G force, tko, or t56 to take the abuse.

No you didn't miss them. I wanted a bone stock platform to begin with so I could make it all my own. I also don't want anything incredibly fast to begin with again. I just want to do a couple hop up things and just leave the car alone and drive it as is. Being such a high mileage car, I would expect the motor to go after another 50k miles (I'm not sure how long the lifespan on windsors is), then I would want to do a 331 H/C/I and an auto swap.

scrap the 331 idea, 347 or nothing. i did the 331 route and i want the extra cubes now. if you want an auto, i got one for sale.
*as far as mileage life goes, 100k you can tell its not as fast as new, but they will go 150 to 200k no problem.
by buddy has a s/c on a 140k miled dd that makes 386rwhp at 4800rpms, like 520tq at 2k lol still going strong!

Eh? I've only been to the track twice and I suck at drag racing but I managed a 14.8 with a horrible 60' (2.4 sec) and granny shifting. That's with the stock 3.08s too, this car has 3.73s so I would expect it to be a little faster. It does have a little extra weight due to the sound systems but the Cobras have a somewhat better top end setup than standard 5.0s so I would venture to guess low 14s or maybe high 13s if he can drive and ditches the subs.
