what gears should i go with?
so im trying to decide if i shoul go with some different gears i have the 2.73 gears from the facotry and ive wanted to go 3.73 but some people are saying 3.55 and another friend said 4.10s, this car is my daily driver it has the standard range of bolt-ons intake, headers, 70mm tb, full msd ignition etc. i also was thinkign that i do have a set of 3.27s sittign my y garage but i dont think those will do as much as im hoping for...basically im tryign to dip into the 13's but maintain my mileage my car is running 14.2s right now

I just put a 327 diff in my car cause it was sittin here and wanted to see what a change it was from 273.There is barely a difference in the seat of the pants test. From 273 to 373 the 327's are right in the middle fraction wise(I think).I would like to try 355's for myself.Apparently 373's will help gas mileage in stop 'n go traffic.

Seems as though most people recommend 3.73's for around town (stop & go) driveability and to keep their engine in the power band range. Personally, I'm voting on the 3.55's. I think that is a good all round gear for a near stock power band. The more modified the engine, the higher the power band, the higher (numerically) the rear end needs to be. Your going to get a lot of different thoughts on this, so be prepared to get conflicting information.

3.55's and don't look back...IMHO they are the ratio that performs best in an "all around" sense. Go 4.10's if you want more low end grunt around town. I've always believed 3.73's were the compromise not 3.55's. Some will say 3.55's are too long legged. With my basic settup 3.73's made the 1st-2nd transition a smokey turdswirl, I may as well go 4.10's. I like top end and am in the works of making my motor stretch those legs so again, 3.55's are the cog...
