5.0 Mustang Stereo System

ive been around alot of car stereos, i personally think that 2 12" subs in a large ported box will sound better then a 15 anyday. Also remember that the type of box the sub is mounted in places a big role in the type of sound you will get. a sub in a small sealed box will have a tight sound (like a pop), where as a sub in a large ported box, will not be as loud but sound much deeper (like a boom) and able to produce the extra low notes better. I personally have only heard 1 15 inch sub before with around 300 watts rms going to it, after hearing it i went with just a single 12 in a large ported box with only 230rms and thought it sounded much better. If you have any question feel free to pm me.

i see now you already ordered the 15 the only idea that comes to mine like previuolly stated, would be to remove the spare tire, and tools and build a box that will seal around the trunk area allowing the spare tire hole as the drop in space for the bottom of the voice coil. Do you know if your subs voice coil is caged or has some type of metal frame around it, or is the voice coil exposed. if its exposed your going to have to leave some room for it to move and not smack anything. also if there is a drain hole in your trunk youll want to seal it up with something as the moving air from the sub will escape through it. ive included a picture of what a caged voice coil will look like.

First you should do a search online to determine the volume of the box you are going to put it in. As long as you have the paper work for that speaker. Also, some speakers come with information for recommended speaker volume. There are a bunch of sites that will give you the speaker volume when you input the speaker characteristics and will give you the resonant frequency and help you determine the port size, then get those dimensions to fit in your trunk. Personally your goal should be to have good sound, not to just have 2 15" speakers
