What can I get for my 1988, mustang GT, v8 high output intake that will increase throttle response and horse power? I know that stock thing must be restrictive...

Could I just take the thing off at the end and put one of those open cone filters, instead of buying a complete kit?

Buy a K&N CAI and it requires no tune.....if you want to go the cheapest that is the way to go....used one on every foxbody I had in the past and no issues!

yes you can take the filter housing off and just put a cone filter on. altough its not very apealing to the eye it does its job

I'm not worried about the looks It's not a show car. I just want a bit more throttle response and HP that I am almost certain is being robbed by that stock contraption.

Get a cold air intake off ebay, they are real cheap like $50.
