I am not trying to take anything away from you by any means, and port seems to know his stuff, but I am still skeptical about this build. Everything would have to be almost so perfect to run 7500 RPM, Engine would have to be fully balanced, spring rates all matched perfect for the cam setup, and I just cant believe somone would put all that work onto a DSS short block. But if it exists, then more power to him.
If it's a DSS Pro Bullet or DSS super Pro Bullet it can handle the rpm.I wouldn't attemp it on the standard Bullet shortblock. A 306 has a low rotating weight with only a 3 inch stroke and isn't near as stressful to the block as a long arm 347. I wouldn't want to take a production 5.0 block past 7000 rpm even on a 306 but I've seen a few survive 8000 rpm dyno pulls in 306 form.Of course the engine has to be balanced and assembled correctly and the right valve springs and matching parts involved as well as a good set of rocker stud girdles or Jessel rockers in order to achive that kind of rpm. It's not hard to make that kind of power if you have the money. I think if I were going to build an engine for 7000+ rpm plus I'd at least use a new Boss block. I wouldnt be afraid to use a production 5.0 block for a 306 solid roller with a 7K chip in the rev limiter. A 6500rpm 347 puts more stress on the block than it would.

-DSS .030 over smallblock 302
-forged pistons
-TW heads
-202 valves
-cam specs 609/596 232/224 whatever that means
-Victor intake
-190lph fuel pump
-24lb injectors (30's apparently purged raw fuel and were too much)
-shotpeened crank and rods
-stud girdle?
-high flow oil pump and electric fan
-custom chip
This is NOT going to make 475hp with these parts PERIOD.
Portmaster, a 306 is only going to make 500hp with off the shelf parts if it has a supercharger, turbo, or alot of nitrous. I don't care how well you tune it. Especially with a 750 "street" carb, and or AFR 185's......so on and so.

i have an 88 gt making 330 at the ground 340torque out of a 306 10:1 comp motor 412 at the crank naturally asspirated brodex STR heads frpp "z" cam flat top pistons edelbrock rpm air gap intake and 750 holley
And your point is?....Still miles away from a 500hp.

my point is thair "PJ"! Obviously u didn't read the top of the forum baddog had said he was told the car made 475 at the crank and i was just leting him know the stuff that was done to my car NATURALLY ASSPIRATED made 412 AT THE CRANK not at the tire
rear wheel is all that matters and for that matter ET is the only important thing at the end of the 1320
I understand your point, and the points made by several of the other guys. His car is set up for the street not the track. He wanted a combo of good handling, good braking and great acceleration. The motor makes at least 425 up front, what it loses to the tire is undetermined right now. I've definitely forgotten to mention a bunch of parts but everything was all put together so they match extremely well. If I try to get too technical I'll step on my dick and look like a fool. I do know it's one of the quickest cars I've been in and I've been in plenty. I'm no engine builder but I know what fast is, for me at least. The technical stats were some I jotted down talking to him the other night, one's he felt were most relevant to illustrate the scope of what kind of power it should make. There are more but quite frankly I ran out of room on the napkin I was writing on. The only car that he couldn't get around while I've been with him was a Grand National with a turbo that had to be the size of a small beer keg, it was so loud. Terminators (stock I'm sure), a late 90's Viper (researched the lineage and I'd guess a '96-97) went down with me in the car as a witness. I just think it's cool because it doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary, mine's in way nicer shape so it pisses some guys of something fierce going down to it. It handles amazing, the SVO brake upgrade helps a ton and that 306 screams like a maniac on PCP. Just a fun, relatively cheap weekend toy...
