For those of you who were wondering, my oppinion lies identical to port's

Though I do draw the line in the sand with classifying the new challenger as a muscle car.

Muscle was more about the times not really the cars, so by my classification, the last would be ....maybe the 73 455 trans am.

You know, I'm a Chevy guy at heart. I bleed Chevy Orange and my tears are Ford Blue but I've seen bone stock 06's bust into the 12's. Your Iron headed LT1 OBD1 93 Camaro was hot in 93 when compared to the 93 Mustng GT but I'll take a 05+ GT Mustang and Given both cars are as they left the factory and beat that Camaro like a red headed step child. Your car made 275 hp at the crank. The new Mustang GT's have you by 25+ hp. You must have slipped in from a Camaro forum after getting spanked by a 281 cubic inch Mustang. They must have laughed you off the Z28 forums.

Well, I was dead in the middle of the real muscle car days and I'm one of those "older guys" I'm a huge Muscle car fanatic and sold my last SS454 Chevelle just a while back. I'm a Big Block fanatic and Ive has some really quick cars. My last street driven Chevelle with a Pump gas 540 would run low 9's(1/4 mile) in 100 degree weather. I have a Nova coming up as my next build when I get the current car done. So suffice to say I'm a Big Block Chevy guy through and through although I like about everything else so don't think I saying this because I own a Mustang. I've owned a little bit of everything.

Most Really Hot Big engine Muscle cars of the 60's and early 70's ran mid 13's. Yea thats right, Mid 13's. SS454 Chevelles, 455 Olds 442's Buick 455 Stage1 GS Skylarks, 428 Fairlane Cobra's. I know because I was there every week down at the local 13.20. With slicks some of these cars could bust into the 12's like the LS6 454, Buick GSX, GTO Ram Air III, Hemi Roadrunner (11's) and Copo Chevelles. The quickest Factory Production car I saw before 1970 was a 1969 Camaro ZL1. It was an all aluminum 427 race engine thrown into a 6 cyl based no frill car. It ran 10.90 on slicks. Super quick for the day. I can build a small block that can wear them out.

I just like the older cars. I certainly don't discount todays off the shelf 11 second street burners that knock off 20 mpg. Muscle is muscle, big block or small block and if your riding a 10 second street car youve got my respect even if it has mitsubishi on it. I like the old Muscle car because they were raw, crude and a blast to drive. Throw a Viper engine in a 67 Fairlane with drum brakes all around and no power steering, no air conditioning and a finiky carb and send me back to the 60's. I'll own the street, lol

No, It was considered a compact car in it's day. I would love to have a nice 70 model though. The biggest thing to grace the underside of the hood of a maverick was a 210 hp 302 (IIRC). I think the early small bumper grabber mpdels have a beautiful body shape. It replaced the Falcon in Fords line up. I would trade my Notch body for one in a second
