Default Is the Mustang the Last Muscle Car?

Inspired by a debate on LS1 Tech about the 4th Gen F body being the last muscle car, I figgured Id see what you folks have to say on the matter. I will leave my personal oppinion aside as not to steer the course of the thread, but what is your oppinion on the idea that "The mustang is the last muscle car?"

well, id have to say the mustang is, since its the only car model that ran from the muscle car era, until now. There has never been a year that the mustang was not produced since 1964... never a break in the chain.
you cant say that about the queermaro, which stopped production in 02, or the firechicken, GTO, challenger, charger (which is the 80's and early 90's was HARDLY a performance vehicle) and others such of the type

Mustang... America's true musclecar!

i would have to say your wrong.. mustangs keep going with smaller motors and playing with superchargers.. Old school muscle was big motors with raw n/a power.. not this new small motors under 300 cubic inches with forced induction.. and if you wanna get into the corvette is the real last muscle car

i suppose it depends on how you would define a muscle car ...like that new challenger with the hemi , pretty sick looks like a muscle car to me ...even a fox the 93 per say has a lil 302 and a measly 205 hp is that really a muscle car ? i d like to think so but i dont know ...

oh and i think your opinion should be included : o)

how couldn't it.. its a American car and has out performed all the rest since the very the start.. i would consider it one.. but when someone thinks of American muscle it definitely isnt what ford has went with the mustang.. just my opinion..

adder couldnt have worded that any better. yes the mustang is last muscle car in my opinion.

it is nice to see the challenger and maro back to provide some competition. cause without the ls1 to compete with who knows if there would have been termi's. but they still dont count because the mustang has yet to miss a production year

the coverette did miss a production year in the 80's and ive always seen the coverette on a more high end tier over the fbodies and stangs. alawys thought of them as a sports car not a muscle car
