find out what model carb it has, on some carbs that were factory produced there were knock outs on the underside of the carb expecially on older gm type quadrajet carbs so just to clear up the misconception on that point.........but either way, knowing the model number of the carb will help out here, which is found on the choke horn

If it's a 351 then it has to be a 77-79. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from that car as possible. The only thing more dangerous than sticking your hand down into a Rattlesnake den is getting involved in the middle of someone elses domestic situation. I've seen people killed for less. Screw the carb and the car and get away from this situation while you can. If age and experiance has taught me one thing is to never buy anything from a freshly divorced or seperated woman unless the husband is on site to sign the title. If he "signed it" before I've got two words for you "Run Run".
Pull it and rebuild it at least.. find what kind of carb it is, Holleys I know first hand have a lot of tuneablility. Is it the 429 Thunderjet or a 351?
Sorry, I meant rebuild the carb, not the engine. Holley sells a rebuilt kit you can get anywhere for around 50$-70.
But how much do you think you can sell that for?

its not stock anymore, i researched the car too. its a '77 T bird which was a stock 2barrel. she found the summit receipts and the part numbers shows it has this intake
so what can you tell me about this now? do these things change much over the years? they were purchased in nov. 2006.
and portmaster that was my first question. its her car and has been since she was 17(shes 31 now) her ex husband just tried to fix it but he didnt do so well i guess. there is no domestic issue over the car itself.

It's really hard for someone to explain all the keys to tuning a carb. You really need to buy a book. Then if you are having specific problems, you can post them here.
if i were you i would buy the holley tuning book. it will explain everything for you that you need. it will be the most valuable thing you ever bought for carbs
