302 500 HP?

$3500 for a turbo kit (will get you about 450rwhp which is over 500bhp)
$1200 on fuel upgrades (maf, injectors, fuel pump)
$600-$800 for a dyno tune and chip
but like everyone said, you will need to build a car that will support it. my buddy's 95 was making about 550rwhp on the stock t5 and stock block till some one ran a red light and totaled the car. if its a t5, dont power shift it, dont use it to engine brake the car, get a good clutch and youll be fine. i had about 550bhp on my stock block. i beat on it whenever i could and you know what finally broke, the stock piston rings. the block was just fine. keep the rpms below 6000 and a stock block will hold 500hp for a long time.
you will still need a couple grand in suspension and another $500 on some rear tires that will hook

Ok. One of the reasons I ask this question is because a buddy of mine said that he knew a guy that was selling a 351 that was pushing close to 500 hp for $2,800. I was trying to weight out my options to see which setup would be the best bang for my buck. I think the 351 had about 6k or 7k miles on it. I mean I knew that the 351 was better but just the fact that it was a motor that I knew nothing about and I didn't know how bad the guy that owned it beat on it. I was thinking at least with my 302, I knew what I had.

There are many ways to get to the 500hp mark. Blower, turbo, spray of N/A. Decide how you want to go and how much money you want to spend. Personally I wouldn't build a 302 with stroking it. Cubic inches are cheap an when building make the most reliable bang for the buck.

+1, find out whats done to the motor, let us know, and we will tell you if its really making 500hp. if it is making 500hp and runs good then the 351 is a great deal
