Default Best year for Foxbody?

I am thinking about buying a Fox Body 5.0 Mustang GT and is there a certain year that is the best to buy?

89 was considered to be the sought after year, last year of tilt wheel + no airbag. Other than that, there aren't many differences to consider. 93 proclaimed to have 10hp less than previous years, but that was believed by many to be just a sales pitch to enthuse people to buy the 94's new body style.

I searched and researched and wasted a whole bunch of time with the year differences when Mustang shopping. Fact is you will not find 2 identical price and condition Mustangs with the year being the deciding factor.

Open up your search to any 87-93 and buy the best condition car your budget allows. I can see this being important on a 2 year old car but on a 20 year old car, make condition the deciding factor.

There are so many pros and cons to each year and you can change whatever your don't like later.

Basically, would you pass up the perfect find just because it has tilt or an 85 mph speedometer. The MAF arguement sucks *****, it's problem that can be changed in a few minutes.

Get an LX, they look better and weigh less and are more aerodynamic.

85-86 Notch. Best looking front end

It all comes down to what trips your trigger. Cars like colors are subjective. Buy what you really like.

the 'shipping weight' of a 1990 mustang LX is 2715 for a hatchback, the next closest to that within the 87-93 is an 88 which is 3105. The rest of that model are within 10-50 lbs of the 3100 lb mark! As a side note if you plan on buying one that is going to be used for racing.
