Hi
I am going to be installing some 3.73's and rebuilding the traction loc at least. I was wondering if I should upgrade to 31 spline axles and differential?
I will be building a 347 stroker and will see mostly street abuse, will the 31 spline be overkill?

31 spline is never overkill...

ive seen people break 28 splines with stock cars..

ive also seen 28 splines run 11's... so

ok, thanks for the input. I might as well do it right the first time around and upgrade to the 31 spline.

So what all needs/should be replaced when I am building this rear?
So far I have the following on my list:
-Ford Racing 8.8' Traction-LOK Limited Slip Differentail - 31 SPL (would you recommend carbon fiber clutche plates?)
-steeda 31 spline axles
-8.8 3:73 ring and pinion
-8.8 axle girdle
-and an installation kit(axle shaft bearings, axle shaft seals, pinion gear bearings, carrier bearings, pinion and carrier shims, crush sleeve, pinion seal, pinion nut, ring gear bolts and cover gasket.)

I know I need fluid as well.

Am I missing anything?

why not 33 spline its the same price through strange and moser last time i checked

Strange 33 spline differentials and axles require c-clip eliminators. I haven't done much research with moser, though.

Nope. For example, on page 61, 2/3 down the page, their posi units require c clip eliminators.

I was considering 33 splines for mine, actually, but settled with my 31's.

i guess i never read into the details since i have the 33spline spool and already assumed i needed the c clip eliminators

1) do the 31 spline, esp. if theres a 347 in the future
2) I think that Moser 31 spline axles also require a 'C' clip eliminator kit....
