Default Wheels, Wheels, Wheels!

Can someone explain to me the compatibility of '05 + year Mustang wheels on a '94???? I understand there is an "offset" difference? Is there a fix? Do they cause rubbing on a '94??

I have a '94 with the 17" tri-spoke wheels; looking for something off a Mustang, 17", but 5 spokes.

Thanks.

The '05/'10 Mustang's generally have +45mm of offset, while wheels that come on Sn-95 Mustangs like yours have between +24/+26mm's of offset. So if you swapped a set of these onto your car, it would result in the wheels sitting to far inward and maybe some inner fender well rubbing. This could be fixed with a 20mm wheel spacer.

For a quick explanation on how offset works I grabbed this from Wiki:

Quote:
The offset of a vehicle's wheel is the distance between the centerline of the wheel and the plane of the hub-mounting surface of the wheel. It can thus be either positive or negative, and is typically measured in millimeters. Offset has a significant effect on many elements of a vehicle's suspension, including suspension geometry, clearance between the tire and suspension elements, the scrub radius of the steering system, and visually, the width of the wheel faces relative to the car's bodywork.
Zero Offset - The plane of the hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel.
Positive Offset - The plane of the hub mounting surface is shifted from the centerline toward the front or outside of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars.
Negative Offset - The plane of the hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheel's centerline.

Still, there are alot of good wheels from Ford Racing that fit your car perfectly. You can find many of them used in good condition if you are patient.

Here are wheels that I would really like for your car;

2003 Cobra Wheels 17" by 9"- Specs

2004 Cobra 10th Annv. Wheels 17" by 9"- Specs

2000 Cobra R's 18" by 9.5" - Specs

FR500's 18" by 9" - Specs

2007/08 GT500 Wheel 18" by 9.5" 45mm offset - Specs

2005/09 Mustang GT Wheels 18" by 8.5" 50mm offset - Specs

Hope this helps!

yeah, in order for 05 wheels to fit your car correctly you'd have to run a huge spacer, you're better off buying wheels made for your year.

+1, also the Saleen wheels that Onyx runs on his Cobra would look great on your '94.

We have several wheels in the appropriate 05+ offset for your vehicle. However, you can get away with running 9's all the way in the 94-04 offset, just can't go staggered.
