Because I can LOL. I reality your not going to pull that on a an un-prepped street. IMO it all depends on much you drive the car. If all you do is cruise around on the weekend, put the stickiest tire you can find on there. I think that the BFG is a good "middle ground" better traction than the Nitto, and longer wearing than the M/T. I think it really depends on what the OP intends to do with his car.

I'm running the Nitto 555R's on mine, couldn't be happier. I havn't much experience with other brands, but for a fairly stock setup, minus a few rear end tweaks for better traction, these tires do me just fine. I actually have to try and spin them if I want to attract some attention. A straight mash of the pedal at a 3k dump, the car just goes. Not even a chirp.
I'm also clocking about 3k miles on them right now, got about 5/8 of the original tread depth left.

I have the MM tq arm and PHB as well. I know I tend to hate on Nittos, but that's because I have a pretty hard core drag race background. I am getting away from that and building a more well rounded car (hence the tq arm and PHB). I am going to go with BFG's for this car for my "everyday" tire. Then I want another set of rims to mount some R compound road race tires on for track days.

i think i can honestly say i have tried EVERY cheater slick on the market over the past 19 years of driving 5.0's

mickey thompsons are the best HANDS-DOWN

the et street radials hook every bit as good as the bias ply et streets, and imo the ONLY radial that is any good. hoosier quick time pro's are identical to et streets and every bit is good.. but i don't think they have a radial version yet

i would not waste my money on nitto's

well its a good thing your opinion doesnt count for ****... he isnt asking about the BEST tire to use... he's just looking for something to put on his street wheels so he's not constantly baking his tires... and BFG or Nitto would be the way to go.

lets see... mickeys... 3000 miles.
nittos.... 15000 miles.

I dont see nitto's costing 5 times what a mickey does.. therefor, its worth it

I wouldn't get the BFG's personally, they were the most expensive tire I tried, and they were by far the worst for traction, I put 100kms on them and took them off. The Hoosiers were the best I found, actually some-what got it to hook at the track, still had to dump it from about 1500rpm after baking the hell out of them

what are you running for suspension...

I had Eibach Sportlines and my car didnt hook worth a damn. Even on my BFG's with 18 psi.
now that Im running drag springs, i hook real nice on the nitto's

upper & lowers in the rear, that's it. With slicks it'll do roughly a 1.52 60 so it's not my suspension. I'm probably going to buy a set of drag springs anyway, try and get the 60 down to high 1.4's, we'll see how she acts with the new engine

Nitto drags work great. I got two solid years of Daily driving with them and they hooked pretty well. In fact, when they were completely bald was when I go the best traction. I was able to pull 1.8 60's on them with a stock suspension, crappy AODE and babying it out of the hole. All around a good tire.
