My 88 Hatch stock weighed 3180 w/o driver and 1/4 tank of fuel at Ohio Valley and 3360 with me in it when I weighed 180lbs. Got up to 235 after I quit smoking in Jan 08. Now back down to 212 and SLOWLY dropping. I would like to get back down to about 195. That's about right for my 6'2" height.
you really think you've shaved over 300 lbs in parts ???
thats like being a the whole engine lighter
just weigh it and see whos clser... i'll win
let make a bet then. i'll put my parts on and borrow my buddies blowed up motor and we will see what it weighs. there is a scrap yard scales on the other side of town. your saying around 3100 of the car with me in the car. i KNOW the car will be under 3000. so if its over 3100 you win if its under 3000 i win. how much are we talking? ive got motivation now
Its ok J, I guarantee my 83 weighed under 2900 with me in it when I was driving it. That thing felt soo light. I wish I would have weighed it before I pulled the motor out.

I used to get all wrapped up being the lightest, fastest, best looking (LOL) etc... until I figured out that someone is always going to be faster, lighter or whatever. Know I just build my vehicles to be fun and fast. I can pull my back seat or strip this and that but then I have a ugly open area in the back blah blah blah... I by no means have or will have a show car but I want it to look good an be fast.
I have put quite a few parts in to lighten it: K member, coil overs, caster/camber plates, fiberglass hood and trunk, fuel cell in trunk, battery in trunk (more for weight transfer), no heat or ac, quick ratio rack, solid motor and tranny mounts, Be Cool radiatior, ... probably a lot more that I can't remember off hand.
I should have my 408 in by the end of week, if i get it done and can drive to a scale before I go on vacation I will just to give you an idea of what mine weighs, I think we are pretty close on parts.
