I tried searching on the web, but I can't get the clear answer for this. Has there been a limited on the 5.0 mustangs. Mine is a 1992 auto and it fails miserably at 120mph. It gets up there alright, but at 120mph it just hits the wall. I don't know why, at one point it even downshifted to D while I was sitting at 120mph. I was at 5000RPM in D and still not going anywhere.
So back to the question, was there any type of the limiter on the 1992 auto 5.0 ?
Thanks.

I thought there wars a limiter too when I got my car. No matter what the car wouldn't pull past a certian RPM. Put a BBK SSI intake on there and flew right past it.
Thanks for the responses guys. This is my first 5.0 so I am not knowledgeable in the AOD workings or the top speed. 120mph just seemed way too low for the car. You probably are right regarding it running out of HP, the car is 100% factory stock so in the best case scenario I have 170WHP.
