Default 1-1/2 year old gas in tank...drain or am I ok?

I started my engine rebuild back a year and a half ago and I am finally ready to fire up the motor. The gas in the tank is obviously 1-1/2 years old too. Am I ok to use the fuel in the tank, or should I drain the old fuel and put in new?

Well the best idea would be to drain it but you shouldn't have a problem with it. If there is under a 1/2 tank I would just top it off and put in a new filter.

you people telling him to run it have obviously not seen what happens to gasoline when it sits for extended periods of time.

if you did not use something like staybile(sp?) in it, i would drain it out and use good new gas! plus think of the water that might have gotten in there in the past year+. if i had to i would mix that gas with some new and use in my lawn mower/snow blower but not in a motor that i care about!

I'd drain it. I left my old truck sitting for only 3 months one summer when I was out of state and it ran like crap when I got back until I filled the tank with fresh gas.
